Socio-demographic Characteristics and Cognitive Function in Adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Introduction: Diabetes is a very common disease all over the world nowadays. Cognitive function impairment closely related with socio-demographic characteristics of diabetic patients. Objective: To assess association between sociodemographic and cognitive in adult type 2 (T2DM) Materials Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted among purposively selected 210 T2DM patients from July 2018 to June 2019 two tertiary level hospital Dhaka city. Data were collected by face interview using pretested semi-structured questionnaire review check list. Results: Mean age 50.5 ± SD 7.4 years male dominance (61.5%). The mean onset diabetes 41.6 6.9. Most had normal (71.4%) MMSE (mini mental state examination scale) score 25.2± 2.3. Statistically significant revealed impaired age, monthly income, education, occupation, number family members types residents respondents (p<0.05). There statistically negative correlation (r = -.398, p.001) -.429, p<.001). also positive total income .078, p<.001) which significant. Conclusion: Policy makers should take necessary measures increase educational working facilities improve standard life so that people can live better housing condition. JAFMC Bangladesh.
